Context & Challenge
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, BNP Paribas Group needed centralized, daily visibility into financial performance across 23 countries. Existing reporting was fragmented across regional teams using different tools and formats, making consolidated group-level analysis slow and error-prone. Business decisions had to be made with incomplete or stale data, often available only the following day after hours of manual consolidation by local teams scattered across multiple geographies.
Approach
I designed and built a centralized daily reporting system processing 30M+ customer records from multiple source systems. Python pipelines handled data ingestion and transformation, applying automated multi-tier classification models to segment performance data by category and geography. Tableau dashboards gave operational teams real-time visibility into performance trends, with drill-down capability from group level to individual country, portfolio, and product line. Tableau Prep automated the daily refresh cycle, eliminating manual consolidation steps that previously consumed several hours each morning. Classification thresholds were defined collaboratively with business teams to ensure alignment with internal governance frameworks.
Results
The platform significantly accelerated data consolidation, enabling teams to access updated dashboards at the start of each business day. The standardized classification model aligned reporting language across 23 country teams, reducing interpretation discrepancies in weekly review meetings and enabling faster escalation of priority situations. The platform supported operational decision-making during one of the most demanding periods in BNP Paribas's recent history, providing consistent visibility across retail, corporate, and private banking segments.
