Finance & HR Analytics Platform — Healthcare Group
Impact
Measurable HR gains · Operational efficiency · Daily visibility
Context & Challenge
A major French healthcare group needed operational reporting that could keep pace with its rapid growth — a network spanning thousands of sites, thousands of employees, and a complex supply chain across France. Finance and HR teams were managing headcount efficiency analysis, financial performance tracking, budget monitoring, and workforce analytics using manual processes: Excel exports, email-based consolidation, and weekly manual aggregation. The absence of daily operational visibility meant problems — workforce trends deviating from targets, budget overruns — were discovered weeks too late to act on effectively.
Approach
I built a daily operational reporting platform on Qlik Sense, connected to an AWS infrastructure with Athena for cost-effective SQL querying over S3-stored data. dbt pipelines handled all transformation logic, enforcing consistent business definitions across multiple analytics domains in a single environment: headcount efficiency analysis, financial performance with margin tracking by entity, budget monitoring against targets, workforce monitoring, and HR analytics with alerts on unusual trends. The dbt models were especially critical in a multi-entity group where the same indicator was calculated with slight variations by different teams. Centralizing definitions in dbt eliminated reconciliation debates in management reviews. Qlik Sense dashboards gave finance directors and HR managers access to refreshed data each morning, with drill-downs by site, department, and employee category.
Results
HR teams gained daily visibility into workforce dynamics by department and site, enabling proactive intervention rather than reacting to monthly reports — with measurable improvement in key HR indicators. Financial performance and operational costs were better tracked through the budget monitoring module, which surfaced deviations quickly. The platform replaced the previous weekly Excel-based review cycle and became the daily operational tool for the group's finance and HR leadership, consolidating all operational metrics into a single, trusted source.
